We invite our residents to join us at 10am on WEDNESDAY MAY 25TH for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to unveil the Memorial Park washroom upgrades! The Town of Shaunavon and Mayor Kyle Bennett are excited to welcome the Honourable Doug Steele to the public unveiling of this facility.
Attendees will gather at the entrance of the Memorial Park washrooms to celebrate the Grand Opening.
The Town of Shaunavon is excited to have these washroom renovations completed and open to park visitors prior to campgrounds opening on May Long weekend. These washrooms were deemed as requiring facility upgrades because “with bigger events happening in Memorial Park at the amphitheatre and the camping picking up this season with the new online booking system, enhancing the washroom facilities was necessary to accommodate the increase in park visitors,” said Director of Operations, Ron Phillips.
The washroom upgrades began in the fall of 2021 and continued throughout the off-season with plans to be completed in the spring of 2022. The previous facility only had 1 toilet, 1 sink, and 1 shower on each side of the washrooms. The new washrooms will now include 2 toilet stalls, 2 sinks and 1 renovated shower on one side; and 2 urinals, 1 toilet stall, 2 sinks and 1 shower in the other side. This facility is also wheelchair accessible which increases access for all users. The renovations will create a more appealing, sanitary, and pleasant experience for Memorial Park users and Shaunee Campground visitors!
This project cost a total of $113,813.52 where $71,405.00 was funded by the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program (MEEP), and the remaining $42,408.52 was funded by the Town of Shaunavon.
We are excited to publicly unveil this project at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. See you there!
