Shaunavon & District Fire & Rescue is changing it up this Boomtown Christmas!! SDFR will be collecting donations for the Shaunavon Food Bank during the Parade of Lights. Acceptable Items: Non-Perishable Food, Personal Care Items, Cleaning Supplies, Laundry Supplies or Cash Donation. Gather your items, and give them to one of our firefighters walking during the parade and share the holiday spirit with those in need!

“We are extremely grateful for the support from the Province of Saskatchewan in providing funding from the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program for these upgrades. This project cost a total of $113,813.52 where $71,405.00 was MEEP funded, and the remaining $42,408.52 was funded by the Town of Shaunavon.” - Mayor Kyle Bennett.
The Town of Shaunavon would like to take this opportunity to thank the Province of Saskatchewan Municipal Economic Enhancement Program for the funding received to help complete many various projects around Shaunavon. These projects are so beneficial to our community in many aspects, and would not have been possible without these funds.
The total amount of funding granted to the Town of Shaunavon was $246,350. A list of the projects and the costs allocated from MEEP are the following:
- Memorial Park Washrooms, Sidewalk: Washroom facility upgrades, Amphitheatre sidewalk - $71,405 MEEP
- Fifth Avenue Walkway: paved walkway on 5th Avenue for pedestrian safety and a row of willow trees for beautification - $40,087 MEEP
- Town Hall Window Upgrades: upgraded the wheelchair access ramp at the rear of the building & replaced 12 windows (originally from 1926!) - $44,858 MEEP
- Ball Diamond Upgrades: New dugouts & fence toppers installed - $30,000 MEEP
- Grand Coteau Heritage and Cultural Centre Vertical Lift: replaced the old platform lift with a new vertical lift to improve access to all visitors - $45,000 MEEP
- Dog Park: a fenced-in area located on the East side of town neighboring the TransCanada Walking Trail - $15,000 MEEP
MEEP is a grant-based program that is used for shovel ready infrastructure projects and initiatives that will help keep municipalities strong. We are so grateful for these funds as these projects contribute towards the improvement of the quality of life in our community, as well as help beautify Shaunavon!
