The Hydrant Replacement Program being executed by the Town of Shaunavon has 2 main goals in place: Public Safety and Water Quality Improvement. With these two goals in mind, this project will benefit all users of Shaunavon’s water distribution system.
PUBLIC SAFETY - Public Safety is the Town of Shaunavon’s top priority. Replacing the older problematic slide gate fire hydrants that are reaching the end of their lifespan is being done to ensure that the operability of the Town’s fire suppression system is at full capacity in the case of fire emergencies.
WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT - Having safe and exceptional water quality is another high priority. Because Shaunavon’s fire hydrants are connected to the potable drinking water system, replacing the hydrants gives the Town necessary flush points to be able to conduct a more efficient and effective flushing program to remove sediment that can cause occasional discoloration of the water in your home or business. Therefore, this program contributes to the Town of Shaunavon’s Water Quality Improvement Strategy, which will benefit all users of the Shaunavon water distribution system.
Helix Construction and the Town of Shaunavon team are working closely together to execute this program in a timely and efficient manner. If residents and businesses have any questions regarding the Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory, please contact the Saskatchewan Health Authority at (306) 778-5280.
We thank everyone for their cooperation and understanding during this time.
