Shaunavon & District Fire & Rescue is changing it up this Boomtown Christmas!! SDFR will be collecting donations for the Shaunavon Food Bank during the Parade of Lights. Acceptable Items: Non-Perishable Food, Personal Care Items, Cleaning Supplies, Laundry Supplies or Cash Donation. Gather your items, and give them to one of our firefighters walking during the parade and share the holiday spirit with those in need!
This year marked the 10th annual Free Garbage Transfer Weekend in Shaunavon and was a busy program once again this year! Town Staff facilitated the transfer site while Helix Ltd supplied and hauled the bins. A total of 31 bins were brought to the Southwest Regional Landfill for disposal, and 12 bins of metal goods were disposed of.
There was a positive uptake with the newly added removal of derelict vehicles from properties as part of this program! The Town partnered with A&B Auto Centre where property owners could phone the Town to register the vehicle, and A&B’s tow truck would remove the vehicle free of charge to the owner. A total of 6 derelict vehicles were registered for removal from properties using this program, and because of the positive uptake, this program will remain in place throughout the year moving forward. If you own a derelict that you would like removed from your property, you may phone the Town Office at (306) 297-2605 during office hours to sign up for the program.
We are proud to offer the Free Garbage Transfer as it provides easy and free access for residents to discard any non-functioning or garbage items for disposal.
