We would like to formally introduce Drew Grainger as the Regional Resilience Specialist for the Southwest (SW) Regional Emergency Measures Organization (EMO)!
Drew and his wife recently moved to Shaunavon where he stepped into his role as Regional Resilience Specialist (RRS) this past April. Bringing 32 years of experience in the RCMP from the Greater Vancouver Region, Drew has a passion for safety and emergency response. As Regional Resilience Specialist, Drew is responsible for overseeing, in partnership with the regional members, the process, development, delivery and evaluation of a resilience and emergency plan. The development of a consistent and streamline action plan is crucial to encourage the safety of civilians of the districts during instances of emergency situations. The group is supported by all local emergency services, Mayors, Reeves and Councils within the region.
Their mission is to develop emergency response plans to mitigate, respond and recover from natural and human caused disasters. “Our objective is to well position all citizens and infrastructure to a level of comfort and confidence in the event of a major emergency,” said RRS, Drew Grainger.
Grainger is currently working with regional members to develop a robust and modernized plan called the “Southwest Regional Emergency Measures Organization Response and Recovery Plan”. This plan will encompass the regional members including the Town of Shaunavon, Town of Gull Lake, and the RM of Gull Lake, RM of Webb, RM of Carmichael, RM of Bone Creek No. 108, RM of Arlington, RM of Grassy Creek and RM of Wise Creek. Since he stepped into this role, Grainger has created a Social Media presence on the Southwest Regional Emergency Measures Organization Facebook page to educate the public on emergency preparedness and inform about current alerts and updates. As well, Grainger is making important resources such as posters available to the public at public locations.
SW Regional EMO information and contact is also available on the “Emergency Preparedness” page on the Town’s website at https://www.shaunavon.com/page/emergency-preparedness/
“We look forward to working with all regional stakeholders to develop our organization to make our region a safe and secure place to live and work.” – Grainger.
