PUBLIC NOTICE – Gate Valve Replacement Program Beginning JULY 24, 2023

The Town of Shaunavon is continually investing in Shaunavon’s infrastructure, including in our water distribution system. In summer 2022, the Hydrant Replacement Program was successfully completed, with the goal of improving Water Quality and upholding Public Safety by installing new slide gate fire hydrants. When performing the water shut offs necessary for that project, it became apparent that select gate valves were not exercising properly, creating issues when water shut offs are required in instances of water breaks & maintenance.

The Town of Shaunavon is now initiating its Gate Valve Replacement Program, beginning on MONDAY JULY 24, 2023. The Town tendered and hired a contracted company to replace problematic gate valves in select areas, shown in the map below.

We emphasize to residents that water services for properties in the affected areas will be disrupted intermittently for up to 3-4 hours at a time while gate valve replacements are underway. We will be posting updates on the dates for each valve replacement location

**IMPORTANT NOTE: A Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory will be in place for the affected areas at the time that gate valves are being replaced, and will be lifted once tests deem the water safe for human consumption (Approx. 1 week). All affected users will be notified of the advisory in place and will be updated when the Precautionary Advisory for their area has been lifted. **
