Through funding made possible by Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism, the Town of Shaunavon has entered into an agreement to be a pilot initiative for Social Prescribing for Older Adults. This 3.5 year initiative will include the hiring of a half-time (20 hours/week) contract position to implement social prescribing for older adults in the community.

Social Prescribing in Saskatchewan - Living Well in Your Community The Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism (SSM) is pleased to announce that Saskatchewan will join other provinces and countries as they celebrate Social Prescribing Day on March 14th 2024. Social Prescribing Day is a celebration of social prescribing that takes place annually to celebrate the people, organizations and communities who make social prescribing happen.

Online bookings for Shawnee and Jubilee Campground are opening April 2nd,2024 at 9am! Campgrounds are open from May long weekend to mid-September for campers to enjoy, at a rate of $35 per night. Shaunavon is conveniently located near some of the best attractions in the province, and offers a multitude of cultural experiences and attractions for all ages.
Keynote speaker Brady Leavold will be in Shaunavon at the CPWC on Thursday March 14th at 6:30 pm to speak about mental health and substance throughout his career. Twenty seniors met at the museum to create a decoupage collage on Thursday February 29th at Age Friendly’s Afternoon at the Museum event. Tammy of the Grand Couteau Heritage and Cultural Centre led the group through the steps of creating a unique art piece on acrylic disks. Coffee, tea and goodies were served and everyone had great fun.
Shaunavon’s first year taking part in the Wellness Challenge was a huge success!! Congratulations to SHAUNAVON FIRE & FAMILY who were the winning team with the highest average points of 242.6! Their team will win the team prize of a value of $250 to put towards any physical activity or health program.

SPRING/SUMMER REGISTRATION NIGHT Wellness & Leisure is hosting a Spring/Summer Registration Night on March 20th from 6:30pm -7:30pm at the Crescent Point Wickenheiser Centre. This event provides opportunity for community members to learn about what activities the groups are offering this season while also giving people the chance to register. It also helps organizations promote their activities, programs and sports for the upcoming spring and summer!
We are so excited to partner with Lii Bufloo Métis Local #35 to bring this Metis Explorers club to Shaunavon! The content of the program is lead by Métis Elder, Barb Parchman. She will read a Métis heritage story and lead participants through a traditional Métis craft activity and there will be a traditional Métis snack offered.
