SW FOR STARS GALA NAMED HONOUREE FOR NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY AWARDS

The SW for Stars Gala, an annual fundraising event for STARS Air Ambulance hosted by community driven volunteers from the Towns of Shaunavon, Eastend and Maple Creek and the Village of Frontier has been named an honouree for “Outstanding Community Group” National Philanthropy Award.

Collectively, these four communities have raised the largest amount of money for STARS Air Ambulance out of any community event to date in Saskatchewan. In honor of reaching the $250,000 milestone in February of 2020, the group was given the honor to have their logo displayed on the STARS Air Ambulance Helicopter.

National Philanthropy Day is an event organized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) to recognize the great contributions of philanthropy that inspire others to come together in unique and innovative ways to care and support one another.

With STARS, those living in rural communities, working in remote areas, travelling on highways or being transported from community hospitals to major medical centers receive the very best in critical care via helicopters staffed and outfitted as mobile ICUs. Fundamentally, where you live – or work, play and travel – shouldn’t impact your chance of survival.

“We proudly work together with our neighbouring communities every year to support STARS Air Ambulance with the SW for STARS Gala. Thank you to all the volunteers who come together to organize and execute this event, and to everyone in our communities for supporting the initiative. The support for this event shows that this is a fundamental service for making Southwest Saskatchewan not only a great, but also a safe place to live, ” SW for Stars Gala organizer, Grant Greenslade.
