September 23 2023, Hayley Wickenheiser was inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall Of Fame. The Town of Shaunavon would like to formally congratulate Hayley on her induction. She is recognized not only for her career, but for her contributions to hockey, and for females in hockey, across the globe. Hayley Wickenheiser has had an impactful and inspiring life story: from her childhood growing up and playing hockey in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, to contributing to countless charitable causes, teaching women in India and North Korea how to play hockey, and pursuing a medical degree.
The Town of Shaunavon Office has set its flags to half-mast to recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. September 30th is dedicated as a day to reflect, share, and learn about the history and inter-generational impacts of residential schools. We are welcoming all community members to come down to the Randy Surjik Memorial Amphitheatre @ Memorial Park to enjoy the BBQ from 12:00 - 1:30 PM Friday Sept 22, 2023! Members of the community are kindly asked to contribute a $10.00 donation, where all proceeds will be donated to KidSport Shaunavon, positively impacting the lives of children in need.
