The Aging in Place Shaunavon Task Force has been conducting local focus groups in September and October to gain feedback and input from the community on what healthy aging in Shaunavon means, including the positive things and challenges related to growing older in Shaunavon. Based on this feedback along with other research, the Task Force will be making recommendations to Town Council regarding long term measures that may help to address the identified issues.

The Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF), formally known as the Federal Gas Tax Fund program, is a permanent source of funding provided to provinces and territories, who in turn flow this funding to their municipalities to support local infrastructure priorities. In 2021, the Town of Shaunavon used $245 815.58 of its Canada Community-Building Fund allocation for road improvement projects which included recap paving of approximately 9290 sq m.
A recently designed project led by Dennis Whyte, Director of the Plasma Science and Fusion Center at MIT, made ground-breaking advances in fusion energy, altering the realm of carbon-free energy production altogether. This technological advance entails the creation of the strongest fusion magnet in the world which was accomplished for the first time ever on September 5, 2021.
We are proud to pay consideration to the new sign that was installed in the Town of Shaunavon in honour of local celebrities, The Hunter Brothers! Council made the decision to put up this landmark to pay tribute to this talented group of artists and all of their successes. Witnessing their growth and achievements throughout their journey has been, and will continue to be, an honour for the community.
This past week, Shaunavon Town Council adopted the Economic Development Strategy 2021-2025. The Economic Development Strategy was developed over the past year by EDO Lauren Johnson, in collaboration with the Town, the Economic Development Committee and guidance from MuniMentor Consulting Co. Economic Development was identified as a primary goal in the Town’s Strategic Plan (2017-2022), with a major component of that being the creation of an Economic Development Strategy.
